Don’t lose grasp of the Gospel

In Acts 13:38-41 we see the foundational message of the Gospel.  In fact there is NO gospel (good news) without this!  “Through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.  Through Him everyone who believes is justified from everything that you could not be justified from by the Law of Moses.  Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:  Look you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe even if someone told you.”

Many people today scoff at God’s plan for forgiveness.  All other religions or worldviews put the burden of the person to get better or get forgiven.  We must “work” our way and earn it, or they believe that there is no god which automatically puts all the emphasis on “self” to do or become.

God says that people wouldn’t believe it even if they were told.  He is talking about a salvation that causes a person to look HONESTLY at their lives.  Where they see the “evil” of their heart and realize their need for forgiveness.  A salvation that does not depend on your ability to make yourself better, but rather a salvation that comes from believing and trusting in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead.

Most of the world thinks that this is foolishness and they struggle to believe that they need forgiveness of sin and struggle to believe that surrendering and believing in this work of Jesus on the Cross is of God. They scoff and reject God’s love, grace and mercy, content to find their own way they will end up perishing.  Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

When will you let your pride down?  When will you stop scoffing at God and receive from Him the forgiveness of sins that He wants to give you?

Jesus talking to the Apostle Paul says: “I am sending you to them to open their eyes and turn them from the power of darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.”  Acts 26:18           Will you turn to Him today and receive from Him?  What is stopping you?
